Knights Receive McGivney Award

From Knights in Action

On Thursday, October 14th, 2010, the Monsignor Dewson Knights of Columbus were officially presented with the Father McGivney Award. Named after the founder of Knights, Father Michael J McGivney, this award recognizes outstanding membership recruitment and retention efforts during the 2009-2010 fraternal year. The Dewson Council grew by over 10 percent during that time.

“We’ve made efforts in our Council to be the sort of organization that Catholic men would want to join: we work to further improve Saint Ann’s and the larger community, while also having a good time,” said Grand Knight Paul Smith, Jr. “I feel our net growth shows that we’ve accomplished that goal.”

Knights Honor St Ann’s School 2010 Graduates

Grand Knight Paul Smith, Jr attended the Graduation Mass and Ceremonies last evening. While there, he presented $50 scholarships to the graduating boy and girl with the highest cumulative GPA: Christian Conaty and Bridget Fassano. He also presented a $25 movie gift card to Lee Dunning, selected by the Knights as the author of the best essay of all Saint Ann’s 8th graders on the topic “Why we need dedicated leaders in the religious life today” as part of the Delaware Knights of Columbus State Council’s annual vocation essay contest.

The Knights would like to congratulate all the new graduates and wish them the best of luck as they continue their academic studies in high school.
